Slow, Slowly, Slower

The weather has been kinder recently so I've actually managed to get down the plot the last 2 weeks in a row on the Sunday. I will admit that yesterday I was there for less than an hour though and all I managed to do was pay my rent (£41.25) for the year and hoe 2 beds over, but I'm still glad I did at least that!

We took some photos last week and after looking back at the photos of the plot when I first took it over I'm really proud of how far I've come. The photos of what the plot looked like can be found here and here and these are from a week ago

I'm actually really proud of myself and the progress I've made. Now I need to get it together and plan this year's planting and then get on with it! I will only have the plot for one more year as we have decided to move in 2007, I don't know when in 2007 that will be I don't want to get stuck into the plot and then abandon it part way through so I will just not renew my lease for another year. I'm kind of sad about that but hopefully when I move I will get a garden of my own to work on instead!

We will be doing Square Foot Gardening this year alongside big beds for the potatoes, squash and courgettes etc that need lots of room. My husband helped me dig out the first of 6 square foot beds, the final bed behind these just in front of the compost area will be another big bed, hopefully the remainder of the beds will be dug by February.

As I know there is a time limit on how long we'll be using the plot (I use the we loosely, sometimes hubby helps and sometimes he doesn't!) I've decided not to invest any more money on edging and bark etc, we'll just leave grass paths and chop them down now and again as needed.

So, I've got a list of plants I want to grow made up and this week I will go through and figure out exactly which type I want, when they need to be started and where I want to order them from, I'll post a list here when I'm finished.
